Ismaning, 30th November 2009 – PLAZAMEDIA GmbH is once again setting new standards in studio production. It’s the only TV producer in Germany to have a virtual studio in HD – the first in the country – in its exclusive service portfolio.

The production company will in future offer a 690 m² broadcaster-independent, freely bookable, state-of-the-art studio with a 100 m² greenbox. The studio allows both fully virtual production and production with virtual elements in a real space. To make sure it can optimally satisfy the individual requirements of the different customers in future, PLAZAMEDIA is working on this project with three high-calibre partners: THOMA Film- und Videotechnik GmbH & Co. KG will provide the “Walkfinder” tracking system, which can be used to analyse the position and alignment of the studio cameras based on infrared image evaluation. The company VizRT will provide the software for generating in real time (50x per second) a virtual image of the virtual studio that corresponds to the real camera perspective. VizRT is the market leader and a global player in real-time graphics. TECHNOCRANE will contribute a “Technodolly” telescopic crane, which is fitted with encoders and is therefore ideal for use in the virtual studio. In addition to its manual operation, the crane’s movements can be programmed and therefore automated.
