Ismaning, 16 January 2007. After the spectacular summer performance of the German national football team and the world championship victory of the German national hockey team, the members of the German team handball hope to continue the spectacular streak by winning their championship at home as well. PLAZAMEDIA is also to be on site at this World Championship held on home turf, this time for Sportfive. As the host broadcaster, Germany’s largest TV sports producer will produce more than 270 hours of live images for team handball fans around the world. The company will provide the worldfeed for all the matches of this 20th IHF Handball World Championship, held from January 19 to February 4, 2007.

PLAZAMEDIA will deploy up to 14 cameras to capture images of the 92 matches played by all the 24 participating teams. Aside from the modular three-chip digital SportsCam camera system, several PylonCams will also be in use. This remote-controlled telescoping system generates particularly dynamic images with its vertical camera moves. The full-service provider for TV and new media will be on site at the 12 World Championship stadiums with up to six venue teams. A total of around 240 staff will also provide the technical support for broadcasting stations at the game locations and will be available to answer any questions related to the live broadcast. In addition, PLAZAMEDIA will handle the encoding for all 92 matches for the internet stream on sportdigital.tv. Creation Club, a PLAZAMEDIA subsidiary, will create the graphics of the opener sequences, the slow-motion replays as well as the TV identifiers for the worldfeed.

The World Championship matches featuring the German national team will be broadcast live on ARD and ZDF as well as DSF. Over 90 international television and radio stations will report on the World Championship for the fans in more than 140 countries to witness.
