European Premiere on the Green: Golf was never so transparent
PLAZAMEDIA to broadcast Caddy’s discussions to viewers

Ismaning, 20. May 2009 – From 21st – 24th May, during the “Hypovereinsbank Ladies German Open 2009”, European viewers can witness players’ discussions for the first time ever close at hand.

“PLAZAMEDIA is setting TV production standards with this sporting event”, reports CEO Florian Nowosad. “This is a European premiere – during the competition, we will be kitting out up to three caddies with microphones.” Viewers of the “Hypovereinsbank Ladies German Open 2009”, highlights to be broadcast by Premiere, can take part personally in the golf rounds and can instantly follow dialogue between player and caddy.

Another premiere is to be seen in the choice of camera system: for the first time in Europe, a mobile high-speed camera will follow the players and transmit dynamic images right from the green itself. The “Highspeed-Cam”, with its ultra slow-motion system, can capture up to 1,500 frames per second, e.g. useful for giving viewers a unique perspective of a player’s swing technique.

In addition, PLAZAMEDIA will be using seven cameras and a super slow-motion device for broadcasting in High Definition (HD). Last year, the Munich full-service provider already covered the prestigious competition for Premiere. This year, the company was approached directly by the Van Bergen Golf Academy on behalf of the German Golf Sport Marketing GmbH (GDS). PLAZAMEDIA will also be assisted during this production by Emmy award-winning firm SI Vision.

Following its 2008 success, the “Hypovereinsbank Ladies German Open” once again takes place at the Gut Häusern golf course. This high-class competition is the only leg of the Ladies European Tour to take place in Germany. 126 players compete for the prize money totalling 300,000 Euros.
