Ismaning, 3rd April 2008 – On 1st April, PLAZAMEDIA produced the first time the transmission of a worldwide conference for the presentation of new research results for a drug. The event took place on three continents simultaneously, with the broadcast consolidated by satellite in a live streaming. The job was commissioned by the agency Infill for German pharmaceutical company Böhringer Ingelheim.
Robert Adams, Head of OB Production at PLAZAMEDIA, comments: "With this production, PLAZAMEDIA is emphasising its position as a leading full-service provider and is also positioning itself as a provider of global live events from major enterprises. Because the production of technically demanding live events is a core competence of PLAZAMEDIA – especially in the sports field – it made sense to also use our know-how for corporate events in future."
PLAZAMEDIA produced the conference in the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago with three cameras in the format SD 16:9. The linked venues were in Europe Lisbon and in Brazil, the World Trade Center Hotel in Sao Paulo. In Chicago the signal was relayed via uplink via two satellites to PLAZAMEDIA, where the incoming American TV format (NTSC) was converted into the European and South American standard format (PAL). PLAZAMEDIA sent the signal via uplink to Lisbon and in parallel to Sao Paulo. At the same time at PLAZAMEDIA the signal was provided via Internet stream on a server of the firm Böhringer Ingelheim. Lisbon and Sao Paulo received the conference pictures from Chicago and projected them onto big screens during the event. The attendees there were also hooked up via an Internet telephone provider in Chicago so that they had the chance to ask questions and actively participate in the conference.
