Ingest/digitisation

PLAZAMEDIA offers its customers three different types of ingest: The classical kind from tape, ingest via external lines (satellite, ATM, etc.) and central ingest from files. Depending on the specifications, both manual and automated work processes are possible.
Digitisation of video tapes
PLAZAMEDIA works with all common broadcast and prosumer formats: e.g., HDCAM, HDCAM SR, Digital Betacam and Betacam SP, DVCam-, DV and DVD.
Automated ingest:
The PLAZAMEDIA eCenter allows for the automated multifeed ingest of supplied tape material via a tape robot. This method is ideal for digitising large archives.
Manual ingest:
The material is transferred to a server by means of conventional tape machines. This is the preferred method for smaller volumes or ad-hoc feeds.
Recording of live signals
The PLAZAMEDIA central control room (HSR) can receive up to 90 signals via satellite and external lines at the same time and transfer them to the ingest servers of the eCenter for direct recording.
File import/ingest
The import of files via external data lines allows eCenter customers to archive their content with PLAZAMEDIA. Through external access, they can initiate file transfers to business partners themselves.
As for central file import, data is received in a secure area. In this border zone (demilitarised zone: DMZ) security checks are performed, thus preventing viruses from seeping in. Through this and other control mechanisms, the PLAZAMEDIA eCenter guarantees the seamless security of its customers’ content.
